Grafu started with a simple observation: millions of people spend hours on Midjourney creating stunning AI art—but mostly for fun.

What if that creative energy could be channeled toward real-world impact?

I designed a competition layer for Midjourney where non-profits and impact companies post 5-minute creative challenges for free. A climate org needs visuals for their campaign? Post it. An education non-profit wants awareness content? Post it.

Suddenly, the community isn't just making art—they're solving real communication problems while having fun, voting on the best work, and discovering causes they care about.

The design challenge was integrating seamlessly into Midjourney's existing ecosystem—using their visual language, UI patterns, and community culture rather than fighting against them.

I created a competition-oriented interface that felt native to the platform: rapid-fire challenges, real-time voting, leaderboards, and impact metrics—all while maintaining Midjourney's signature aesthetic.

The insight: you don't need to build a new platform to create impact. Sometimes the highest leverage move is adding one smart feature to something that already works.
